About an hour later 60 minutes did a segment on Pope Leo and US cardinals opposing Donald Trump’s Iran war and immigration policies, the president posted a Truth Social critique of the Pope.
In a rare and perhaps unprecedented attack by a president against a Catholic church leader, Trump called Leo “weak on crime” and “terrible on foreign policy,” and suggested that the pope be chosen to “settle” his presidency.

Trump posted: “If I wasn’t in the White House Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican.”
He added, “I don’t want a Pope criticizing the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected, IN A FOUNDATION, to do, set records for low crime and create the greatest Stock Market in history.”
After posting the attack, Trump told reporters, “I don’t think he’s doing a good job. I guess he likes criminals.”
He then posted an AI image of himself looking like Christ.
Last week, Leo condemned Trump’s threat on Tuesday that “the entire civilization will die tonight” unless Iran agreed to a deal to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The Pope not only called the comment “truly unacceptable” but also called on everyone to do so “cContact the authorities – political leaders, parliamentarians – to ask them, tell them to strive for peace and always reject war.” It’s been almost a year since Robert Prevost became the first American elected Pope.
After Trump’s post, Father James Martin, a Jesuit priest and editor of a major US magazine, posted on
the 60 minutes segment featured Norah O’Donnell’s interviews with Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark, Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago and Cardinal Robert McElroy of Washington.
McElroy said of Iran, “It’s an abhorrent regime and it needs to be removed. But this is a war that we’ve been in, and I think it’s tied to a broader moment in America that’s worrying: We’re seeing before us the possibility of war after war.”
Cupich called the White House’s social media posts about the war — which interspersed clips of the bombing with scenes from the movie — “disgusting.”
Meanwhile, Tobin has called Immigration and Customs Enforcement a “lawless organization.”
The segment also highlighted Leo’s outspokenness about the war and his embrace of migrants, putting him at odds with the Trump administration. the 60 minutes The piece notes that after Leo spoke out against Trump’s military action in Venezuela, the Vatican ambassador to the US was called to the Pentagon for a meeting.
“Two church officials gave a description 60 minutes unpleasant and controversial,” O’Donnell said.
Last week, The Free Press, founded by CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, reported that at the meeting, a Pentagon official mentioned “the Avignon papacy,” or a period in the 14th Century when the pope resided in France under pressure from the monarch, King Philip IV.

“Pope Leo is WEAK on crime and terrible on Foreign Policy. He talks about “fear” of the Trump Administration, but doesn’t mention the FEAR that the Catholic Church and all other Christian Institutions have had during COVID when they arrest priests, pastors and everyone else for holding Church services, even when going out and staying 10, even 20 feet apart. I like his brother Louis likes him a lot more than me, because Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesn’t! I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s okay for Iran to have Nuclear Weapons. I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible for America to attack Venezuela, a Country that is sending large amounts of Drugs into the United States and even worse, destroying their prisons, including murderers, drug traffickers and murderers, into their Country. Crime and creation of the greatest stock market in history, Leo should be grateful because, as everyone knows, he was not on any list to become Pope, and was only put there because he was American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump, and also the fact that he met with Obama sympathizers like David Axelrod. a LOSER from the left, one who wants churchgoers and clergy arrested. Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop serving the Radical Left and focus on being a great Pope, not a Politician. It’s hurting him so bad and more importantly it’s hurting the Catholic Church!
